Privacy Policy
**Last Updated: June 17, 2026**
This Privacy Policy explains how The Hunt (“The Hunt,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, stores, and protects information when you use our website, mobile application, mobile features, creator tools, subscriptions, location-based experiences, QR-code features, augmented-reality features, customer support, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).
The Hunt is a location-based game and scavenger-hunt platform that allows users to participate in hunts, visit physical locations, scan QR codes, redeem offers, and, where available, create, edit, publish, and share their own hunts. Because location-based gameplay is central to the Services, this Privacy Policy explains our location practices in detail.
By using the Services, you acknowledge that your information will be handled as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, you should not use the Services.
1. Who We Are
The Services are operated by The Hunt.
**Contact:** [hq@jointhehunt.io](hq@jointhehunt.io)
**Website:** [www.jointhehunt.io](http://www.jointhehunt.io)
If the app store listing identifies a different legal entity as the developer or publisher, that legal entity should be inserted here before publication.
2. Eligibility and Age Restrictions
The Services are intended for users who are at least 13 years old.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without legally required parental consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information and terminate or restrict the associated account.
Users who are at least 13 but under the age of majority in their jurisdiction may use the Services only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. Paid features, subscriptions, and creator tools may require additional consent from a parent or legal guardian.
The Services are not directed to children under 13 and are not intended to be submitted as an app primarily directed to children unless we separately update our practices, app store declarations, and this Privacy Policy.
3. Information We Collect
We collect information in the following categories.
a. Account and Profile Information
When you create an account, sign in, subscribe, participate in a hunt, or use creator features, we may collect:
* Name
* Email address
* Username
* Password or authentication credentials, if applicable
* Date of birth or age-related information used to verify eligibility
* Profile information you choose to provide
* Account settings and preferences
* Subscription, entitlement, or premium-access status
We may also receive limited account information if you sign in using an authentication provider, such as Apple, Google, or another supported login method. The information we receive depends on your settings with that provider and the permissions you grant.
b. Location Information
The Hunt is a location-based experience. When you participate in an active hunt or use features that require location verification, we may collect precise or approximate location information from your device.
We use location information to:
* Enable location-based gameplay
* Confirm that you have arrived at a hunt checkpoint or participating location
* Support QR-code check-ins and offer validation
* Help prevent fraud, misuse, or false visit reporting
* Provide directions or location-based app functionality
* Support operational analytics, such as aggregated visit and completion metrics
We do not collect precise location continuously in the background. Location information is intended to be collected only when you are actively using location-based features, participating in an active hunt, checking in, scanning a QR code, validating arrival, or using another feature that reasonably requires location access.
You can control location permissions through your device settings. If you disable location access, certain location-based features may not work properly or may be unavailable.
c. Gameplay, Hunt, and Activity Data
When you use the Services, we may collect information about your gameplay and activity, including:
* Hunts viewed, started, joined, abandoned, or completed
* Checkpoints visited
* QR codes scanned
* Answers submitted
* Hints used
* Time stamps and visit sequence
* Scores, achievements, badges, leaderboard activity, and progress
* Team participation and player status
* Offer views, redemptions, or eligibility events
* Device events related to active gameplay
* Errors, failed scans, incomplete hunts, and support-related activity
This information helps us operate the game, maintain fairness, detect misuse, improve hunt design, support partner reporting, and troubleshoot user issues.
d. Creator and User-Generated Content
If you use creator tools or premium features, we may collect content and information you create, upload, submit, edit, publish, or share through the Services, including:
* Hunt titles, descriptions, themes, storylines, clues, puzzles, answers, hints, and checkpoint information
* Custom locations, addresses, business names, venue names, map points, and route information
* Images, audio, text, or other media you upload or generate
* Draft hunts, unpublished hunts, published hunts, and edit history
* Share links, Add-Hunt QR codes, creator settings, and publication settings
* Communications or notes submitted through creator-support workflows
Depending on your settings and how you use the Services, creator content may be private, shared with invited players, accessible through a QR code or link, or publicly available within the Services. If you publish or share a hunt, other users may be able to see the hunt content, location information, creator name or username, and related details you make available.
You should not include sensitive personal information about yourself or others in hunt content unless you have the right and consent to do so.
e. Camera, QR Code, and Augmented-Reality Features
The Services may request access to your device camera to scan QR codes, support augmented-reality gameplay, or enable related app features.
Camera access is used to support the feature you are using. We do not use your camera to identify you or record video for unrelated purposes. Unless a feature expressly allows you to upload or submit a photo, image, video, or other media file, camera input is generally processed to enable the applicable QR-code, augmented-reality, or gameplay function.
If you upload images, videos, or other media as part of creator tools, support requests, or other app features, we may collect and store that content as described in this Privacy Policy.
f. Payment, Subscription, and Purchase Information
If you purchase a subscription, player pack, premium access, or other paid feature through the Apple App Store, Google Play, or another authorized payment provider, the payment transaction is processed by that app store or payment provider.
We do not receive your full credit card number or full payment-card details from Apple or Google. We may receive information necessary to confirm and manage your purchase, such as:
* Product purchased
* Subscription status
* Renewal, cancellation, or expiration status
* Transaction identifiers
* App store receipt or entitlement information
* Approximate purchase date and account association
This information is used to provide paid features, manage subscriptions, prevent fraud, provide support, and comply with legal, tax, accounting, and app store requirements.

* Name and contact information
* The content of your message
* Screenshots, attachments, or diagnostic information you provide
* Support history and resolution notes
We use this information to respond to you, improve the Services, investigate issues, and maintain safety and integrity.
h. Device, Technical, Diagnostic, and Usage Information
We and our service providers may automatically collect technical and usage information, including:

When you use AI-assisted features, we may process the prompts, instructions, uploaded materials, draft hunt content, and related context you provide in order to generate or improve the requested output. This information may be processed by third-party AI service providers acting on our behalf.
You should not submit sensitive personal information, confidential information, or information about others into AI-assisted features unless you have the right to do so and want that information processed for the requested feature.

If you make purchases through the Apple App Store, Google Play, or another authorized payment provider, your purchase is subject to that provider’s privacy policy and payment terms. We receive limited purchase and entitlement information needed to provide and manage paid features.
c. Participating Retailers, Sponsors, Venues, and Location Partners
The Hunt may work with retailers, sponsors, venues, advertisers, municipalities, organizations, and other participating location partners.
We may provide partners with aggregated, de-identified, or operational reporting, such as:

For example, if you choose to redeem an offer, sign up with a participating business, submit information directly to a partner, or otherwise interact with a partner outside The Hunt, that partner may collect information from you under its own privacy policy.

8. We Do Not Sell Personal Information
The Hunt does not sell personal information for money.
We do not rent, sell, or trade names, email addresses, precise location history, or other identity-level personal information to retail partners, sponsors, data brokers, or other third parties for their independent marketing purposes.
We also do not knowingly sell or share personal information of users under 16 years of age.
If we introduce advertising, cross-context behavioral advertising, third-party tracking, or data practices that may be considered a “sale,” “sharing,” or “targeted advertising” under applicable privacy laws, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any legally required notice, consent, or opt-out rights.
9. Tracking, Advertising, and Analytics
We may use analytics and diagnostics tools to understand how the Services are used, measure performance, identify errors, and improve the product.
We do not currently use precise location data for third-party behavioral advertising.
If we use device identifiers, advertising identifiers, cookies, pixels, SDKs, or similar technologies for advertising, attribution, or tracking that requires consent, we will request consent where required by law or platform rules.

You may unsubscribe from promotional emails by using the unsubscribe link in the email or contacting us.
11. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, maintain security, and support legitimate business operations.
General retention practices include:
* Account information is retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward as needed for legal, security, support, backup, fraud-prevention, and operational purposes.
* Creator content is retained while it remains in your account, draft hunts, published hunts, shared hunts, or backups, unless deleted or removed according to our policies.
* Gameplay records, QR scans, visit verification events, and offer validation records may be retained as needed to support gameplay history, partner reporting, billing reconciliation, fraud prevention, analytics, and dispute resolution.
* Precise location records are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for gameplay, visit verification, security, fraud prevention, analytics, legal compliance, and operational purposes, after which they may be deleted, aggregated, or de-identified.
* Support communications are retained as needed to respond to your request and maintain business records.
* Aggregated or de-identified data may be retained longer because it does not reasonably identify an individual.
When we delete information, it may take additional time to remove it from backups and archival systems. We may retain certain information where required or permitted by law, including for security, fraud prevention, tax, accounting, legal claims, app store compliance, and legitimate business records.
12. Account Deletion and Data Deletion
If you have an account, you may request deletion of your account and associated personal information.
You may submit a deletion request by:
* Using the account deletion feature inside the app, if available; or
* Contacting us at [hq@jointhehunt.io](hq@jointhehunt.io)
We may need to verify your identity before completing a deletion request.
Deleting your account may permanently remove access to your profile, gameplay history, creator tools, draft hunts, published hunts, premium features, and other account-based features. Some information may be retained where required or permitted by law, such as records needed for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, legal compliance, transaction records, tax or accounting obligations, or enforcement of our terms.
If you purchased a subscription through Apple or Google, deleting your account may not automatically cancel your app store subscription. You should also manage or cancel subscriptions through the applicable app store account settings.
13. Your Privacy Choices
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the right to:
* Access personal information we hold about you
* Request correction of inaccurate information
* Request deletion of personal information
* Request a copy of certain information

The Hunt does not sell personal information for money. If we engage in practices that qualify as a “sale,” “sharing,” “targeted advertising,” or similar activity under applicable state privacy laws, we will provide legally required notices and choices.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.
15. International Users
The Services are operated from the United States. If you access or use the Services from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored in, or processed in the United States and other jurisdictions where we or our service providers operate.
These jurisdictions may have data protection laws that differ from those in your country. Where required by law, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers of personal information.
16. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, and disclosure.
These safeguards may include access controls, encryption in transit, authentication, monitoring, logging, vendor controls, and other security measures appropriate to the nature of the information.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
17. Third-Party Links, Locations, and Services
The Services may contain links to third-party websites, app stores, social media services, maps, venues, retailers, sponsors, or other third-party services.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party services that we do not control. If you interact with a participating business, redeem an offer, visit a third-party website, use a third-party map, share content through a social media platform, or make a purchase through an app store, that third party’s privacy policy and terms apply.
18. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we update it, we will revise the “Last Updated” date above.
If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the Services, by email, in-app notice, website notice, or another appropriate method. Your continued use of the Services after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective means you acknowledge the updated policy.
